The Power of Colour: An Evening to Remember

There's something incredibly special about bringing people together around a shared passion, and that's exactly what happened at our very first The Power of Colour event here at Occhiali.

What began as an idea to celebrate colour, creativity and conversation turned into an evening that exceeded every expectation we had. The boutique was filled with laughter, fascinating discussions, fantastic wine and a room full of people who were genuinely excited to learn just how much colour influences the way we live.

A Boutique Full of Colour

From the moment guests arrived, the boutique was buzzing.

With colourful styling throughout the space, glasses on display, wine being poured and conversations already flowing, it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying themselves before the talks had even begun. One of the things we loved most was seeing people chatting to others they hadn't met before, asking questions and simply enjoying a relaxed evening together.

Erin: The Psychology of Personal Colour

The evening began with Erin sharing her journey from Dispensing Optician to Professional Colour Consultant, and why the two naturally belong together.

She spoke about what colour analysis actually is, why wearing the right colours can completely transform how we look and feel, and how understanding our own colouring can make shopping, getting dressed and even choosing eyewear so much easier.

Colour isn't simply about fashion or style. It's about confidence.

Guests learned how our natural features influence the colours that suit us best, how colour psychology shapes first impressions, and why choosing colours that work in harmony with us can leave us looking healthier, brighter and more vibrant without changing anything else.

Using her seasonal drapes and colour fans, Erin demonstrated the difference between each of the seasonal palettes and gave examples of how to put your colour fan to use when shopping for clothing, make-up, jewellery, eyewear, and knowing your best hair colours too.

Terian: Bringing Colour Into Our Homes

Next we welcomed the wonderful Terian of Terian Tilston Interiors, who shared her expertise on using colour within interior design.

Her talk explored how the colours we surround ourselves with can influence (or be influenced by) our mood, emotions and everyday wellbeing. From creating calm, restful spaces to designing rooms full of energy and personality, Terian demonstrated that colour is just as powerful in our homes as it is in our wardrobes.

She also showcased incredible before and afters of some of her fabulous projects with mood boards for each that were passed around so everyone could look through the pieces that inspired each project and brought it all together.

It was fascinating to hear how colour choices can completely transform a room, often in ways we don't consciously realise.

The link between Erin's talk and Terian's was something we loved. While one focused on the colours we wear, the other explored the colours we live with, showing just how much impact colour has on every part of our lives.

Wine Tasting with Emma from Phemie Loves

Of course, no evening centred around colour would have been complete without something colourful (and tasty!) in our glasses too.

Emma, who owns Phemie Loves in Markinch, guided everyone through a carefully selected wine tasting, sharing information about each bottle while encouraging guests to discover new favourites.

The wine paired perfectly with the relaxed atmosphere and gave everyone another opportunity to chat, laugh and continue the conversations sparked throughout the evening.

It was the perfect way to bring everyone together.

More Than Just an Event

Looking back through the photographs, what stands out most isn't simply the talks or the wine. It's the conversations.

People staying behind after the presentations had wrapped up, asking questions, sharing ideas, trying on eyewear, meeting new people and simply enjoying spending time together.

That's exactly what we hoped The Power of Colour would become. Not just an event, but a community.

As a small independent business, evenings like this remind us why we love what we do. Being able to share our passion with such an engaged group of people was genuinely a privilege, and we're already excited to start planning what's next.
